Kingswood Skis are tough. Just ask Ivan Slate. This rough and ready Canterbury skier grew up at the club fields. In winter, you'll find him at Broken River, either claiming first tracks, or commentating from the barbeque. Ivan is tough on his gear - tougher than anyone else we've seen and he says, "I can't afford to ski on anything except Kingswood."

Our favourite story about Ivan:

From the ski field, Ivan spots a wild goat on a hillside near Broken River, fetches his rifle and takes the beast out. The next day, the barbeque is sizzling with wild game, which he shares around liberally. He's like Davey Crocket on skis.
